What gives a person power over you?
For instance, have you ever been afraid to tell your parents about a decision you’ve made–say, you’re going back to school or changing jobs or breaking up with your partner–even though you’re a grown-ass adult?
Why should it matter if they approve?
For most of us, regardless of whether it “should,” it does. But why?
And let’s go beyond, “Well, but they’re my parents!” which doesn’t explain anything, not really.
It still begs the question that if we’re adults, and the roof over our head, the food on our table, the friends in our life, our health, and about a gajillion other things aren’t actually dependent on whether our parents approve (or not), why can it feel so gut-cringingly awful to break their rules?
Returning to my original question, what gives a person power over you?
In my new course, Relationship Reset, we’ll explore this question by reading from Jung’s Collected Works, translating his insights through my Jungian Witch’s lens.
We’ll work with energy–seeing thoughtforms, cutting cords, and more–in guided audio meditations.

…and we’ll read his views on the energetic entanglements that provide people a backdoor into our psyche, where they can yank invisible puppet strings, making it very tricky, indeed, to make autonomous decisions without a tsunami of fear and guilt.
Btw, this is the same energetic process that allows us to imbue objects with magical power, such as when we’re making talismans or spell bags.
Suffice it to say, we don’t really want other people treating us like their own personal talisman, so dissolving these energetic entanglements allows us to relate as whole and healthy equals rather than anxiously people pleasing ourselves into oblivion.
